At
the core of this small and luxurious beach resort is a luxurious
villa originally built as a private home. It offers overwhelming
opulence with its five bedrooms, private sauna, vast main hall
decorated in quasi-rustic style, electronically equipped study,
full stereo set and well-stocked library A half dozen purpose-built
villas are each subdivided into two or four comfortable suites
which are styled to convey the same personalised feel as the bigger
house. They feature exposed timber and quited patchwork textiles,
with comfortable baths and working fireplaces.
They
surround a large swimmingpool amid a riot of flowering Mediterranean
bushes and climbing vines. The site is backed by forest hills:
it faces the splendid panorama of the gulf of Hisaronu framed
by jagged ranks of mountains. The private beach lies on the edge
of a large eucalyptus grove. A brisk westerly wind raises good
surf on most afternoons. The beatiful countryside reward the explorer
with wild mountain paths, some barely explored Roman ruins and
excellent fish restaurants in nearby villages.
